Miyetti Allah leaders arrested for kidnapping, sponsoring of bandits

Leaders of the Kwara State chapter of Miyetti Allah, including their President, Idris Abubakar, have been arrested for alleged involvement in kidnapping and sponsorship of armed bandit groups in Kwara state.

They reportedly confessed to it.

NSA Nuhu Ribadu had engaged the group as ‘vigilantes’ to tackle banditry in Kwara, following multiple terrorists attacks in the state.

This came to light when soldiers arrested three bandits in Kwara. The bandits confessed Kwara Government gave them weapons. Kwara Govt denied them at first, but admitted they were using state van.

Two days later, they made a U-turn claiming the 3 men were Miyetti Allah members.

In reaction, Miyetti Allah called Kwara Govt, liars. Insisted they are a peaceful cattle breeding group, without ties to security or terrorism.

And now, after sustained military air and ground pressure, the Fulani trio of Idris Abubakar, president of Miyetti Allah and two other members (Kwara Chapter, not National), were allegedly caught with ransom proceeds.

And according to reports, they confessed to supporting criminal networks terrorizing communities across Ifelodun, Edu, and Patigi, etc. Investigation is underway.

Last October, some Nigerians suggested Nuhu Ribadu was plotting to arm the controversial herders to work with the state to tackle the rising insurgent — locals rejected it, but apparently he still deployed them.
