Over 40 Nigerian soldiers, Including Lt. Colonel, killed as Boko Haram storms Borno military bases

Militants linked to ISWAP, a Boko Haram faction, launched coordinated attacks on military bases in Konduga, Mainok, Jakana, and Marte between Thursday night and Friday morning.

Over 40 soldiers have been confirmed dead, including Lt. Col. SI Iliyasu, Commanding Officer of the 222 Battalion. Insurgents burned tanks and military vehicles, seized ammunition, and held some bases for hours before security forces regained control. The fate of several soldiers remains unknown.
