The Nigerian Army has named new GOCs for four freshly created divisions as the expanded formations begin operations.
The development was made public via a statement on Wednesday.
The deployment officers are:
1. Major General Yakubu Yahaya → GOC 9 Division, Ilorin (also Commander, Operation SAVANNA SHIELD)
2. Major General Chinedu Ralph Nnebeife → GOC 10 Division, Jalingo
3. Major General Moses Gara → GOC 5 Division, Makurdi (also Commander, Operation WHIRL STROKE)
4. Major General Auwalu Mahmuda → GOC 2 Division, Ibadan
New brigades activated:
1. Brigadier General A.O. Odubiyi → Commander, 11 Brigade, Gboko
2. Brigadier General A.M. Haruna → Commander, 29 Brigade, Kainji
3. Brigadier General R.M. Aminu → Commander, 10 Brigade, Lafia
The new divisions (5, 9, 10 and 83) were approved by President Tinubu to expand the Army from eight to twelve divisions.
