A Nigerian convicted of assault and adult abuse, Obiageriaku Jane Iheanacho, has been captured by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency in Maryland and now risks deportation.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, in a statement on Friday, announced the arrest of Ms Iheanacho.
It stated, “Obiageriaku Jane Iheanacho, a criminal illegal alien from Nigeria, convicted for first-degree assault and vulnerable adult abuse in Baltimore, Maryland, was arrested among worst illegal aliens.”
Ms Iheanacho was arrested alongside others categorised among America’s “Worst of the worst” criminals to be deported to their respective countries.
The Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin said, “Yesterday, the brave men and women of ICE arrested murderers, sexual predators, robbers, and other dangerous illegal aliens.”
He added, “Despite the dangerous and ugly rhetoric from sanctuary politicians that have resulted in a 1,600% increase in assaults against them, ICE will never stop enforcing the law, deporting illegal aliens, and protecting the American people.”
Recall that in 2023, Ms Iheanacho, a geriatric nursing assistant at Autumn Lake Health Care Post Acute Care Center in Baltimore City, was convicted of first-degree assault and abuse of a vulnerable adult and sentenced to 25 years in prison.
During investigations, Ms Iheanacho was caught on camera pushing Ellsworth Johnson-Bey to the ground. Mr Johnson-Bey, a 75-year-old, whose left hip was fractured as a result of the assault, eventually died.
