Presidency blames Charly boy and his group for clash with traders at Wuse market

Chidi Samuel ||The Presidency on Wednesday said that Charles Oputa, aka Charly boy, and his group should not have taken their anti-Buhari protest to Wuse market, a move that almost lead to a break down of law and order but for the timely intervention of the police.

The Presidency’s position was canvassed by Mr. Femi Adesina, the senior special assistant to President Buhari on media and publicity who said that it was wrong for the group to have taken their protest to the market while also insisting that such issues should not be ethnicised.

Adesina said, “Taking a protest to the market in the first place was wrong, so whoever took the protest to the market place was the one that attempted to make it get out of hand.

“We are not for ethnic cleavages, we are for one Nigeria. Anybody that attempted to ethnicise protests failed because everyone has a right to protest and ethnicity is not something that should be introduced to protest.”

The Charly boy lead Ourmumudon don do Movement has since temporarily suspended their protest following the Wuse market clash.
