Ebun Francis || The caretaker committee chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ahmed Markafi on Thursday in Ede, Osun State said that Nigerians has suffered enough under the All Progressive Congress government.
The former Senator and governor of Kaduna state between 1999-2007 advised Nigerians to, “come and stay under the umbrella because the broom is no longer sweeping well”.
Markafi made the remark at the presentation of the N250m scholarship to 66 indigent students sponsored by the Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Senator representing Osun West Senatorial district.
The PDP caretaker chairman told the gathering that the party have learnt its lessons from past experiences and will keep any promise made to the electorate if given the opportunity to lead again.
Markafi said, “With the PDP, we are going to have a good time governance under rain, under shine. Nigerians have suffered enough in the hands of APC and God will emancipate us by returning the PDP to power both at the federal and at the state.”
“In PDP, it is going to be promises made, promises kept. We are going to have a full-time governor in PDP.
“No doubt, we have our problems, we have made efforts to correct it, we are not like the government that doesn’t take to corrections or listen at all.”
“We apologise to those the party has offended and we call on those that have not joined to come and join,” he said.
Also speaking at the event, Senator Adeleke urged PDP members in the State to pull together to be able to take over the state from the ruling APC.
Adeleke said, “This is the greatest challenge that all well-meaning members of the PDP in the state should saddle themselves with to be able to present a credible candidate that will effortlessly win the governorship election and take over the Bola Ige House, Abere next year.”
“We must compromise and accommodate one another. We must come together in unity so that power does not slip through our fingers next year in Osun state.
“Let us, as a party, avoid rancour, mudslinging, pull him down syndrome and other vices that may endanger our chances of winning the 2018 governorship election in Osun state.
“Those who are yet to sheath their swords must do so and work for the party to win the poll and bring succour to the people of Osun state.”
