Ebun Francis || The Senate on Tuesday set up an ad hoc committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the recall and reinstatement of the fugitive former chairman of the Presidential task force on Pension reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina.
The lawmakers who took time during plenary condemned the attempt by some members of President Buhari’s cabinet to discredit the anti-corruption fight of the administration, wondered how a fugitive on the wanted list of Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC was absorbed into the country’s civil service.
The former Pencom boss went into hiding two years ago following his indictment in the over N2 billion naira pension scam and was subsequently declared wanted by the EFCC.
Maina, who was dismissed from the civil service, suddenly came into public consciousness last week following his reintegration and posting to the ministry of interior.
