Ebun Francis| Lagos state health commissioner Akin Abayomi has recovered from Covid-19 after testing negative for the virus, the state government announced on Monday.
Abayomi, who doubles as deputy incident commander for Covid-19 in Lagos, tested positive on August 24.
In a statement seen by Alabingo.com, Information and strategy commissioner Gbenga Omotoso said, Abayomi took the test on Sunday evening after mandatory isolation for Covid-19.
The statement read, “Professor Abayomi is very grateful and humbled by the deep concern shown and expressed by Executive Council members, civil servants, Lagos residents, Nigerians, both locally and in the diaspora, through prayers, messages, phone calls and gifts. He will be returning to his full duties gradually and remains resolute in delivering the mandate of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.”
Abayomi’s recovery comes at a time the highly contagious virus is believed to be in retreat in Lagos state, the epicentre of the pandemic.
