Adeloja in court, wants PDP convention annulled

Chidi Samuel || One of the chairmanship aspirants in the just concluded National Convention of The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr. Taoheed Adedoja, has approached an Abuja High Court asking for the nullification of the results from the convention.

Adedoja is asking the court to nullify the outcome of the convention on the basis that he was “excluded” from the exercise.

According to him, rather than using his name, the convention planning committee used “Taoheed Oladoja” and as such, his name did not appear on the ballot papers.

It will be recalled Adedoja was the only aspirant from the south-west who refused to step down for Tunde Adeniran, consensus candidate from the region, even though he ended up not securing any vote at the election.

In the suit filed by his lawyer, Rickey Taffa,  Adedoja said it was wrong to say he scored no vote in the election when his name was “missing.”

Adedoja had last week said that, “the convention was characterised by impunity” which must be reviewed in order to avert further crisis in the party.

He had said, “A week to our convention, a list tagged ‘unity list’ emerged with names of the winners in the convention circulating around. So the BoT should find out what went wrong.”

Following the election of Uche Secondus as the National Chairman of the PDP at the convention, the party has been making efforts to reach out to aggrieved party members, especially from the South West.
