Everest Ezihe || Barely 6 weeks to the expiration given to Igbos Living in any part of the northern region to vacant the area on or before 1st October 2017 by coalition of Arewa youths, the leader of Alaigbo Development Foundation (ADF) led by Prof. Uzodinma Aniekwu has petitioned United Nations (UN) and United States Congress over the threat for the alleged extermination of the ethnic group lives and properties by the Arewa youths.
Prof Aniekwu who presented copies of the petition to media houses in Owerri on Monday including The Authority with a caption “50 years After Biafra, Another Genocide Looms” noted that the petition has become necessary following the support the Arewa youths are getting from some of their elders as well as the failure of the Federal Government to act beyond verbal statement and assurances which they said that experience has proved to be empty with obvious connivance.
The President of the sociocultural pressure group further said that the delegation also visited Martin Luther King Centre, Lincoln University, and Igbo Landing at St, Simeon Island, in Georgia U.S.A as well as held serious meetings concerning the issue with branches of ADF and its affiliates as well as other Igbo groups in the USA.
To demonstrate their willingness to further battle the 3 months Quit Notice order, ADF said that they view with extra concern the 3-months quit notice order issued to Ndigbo by a coalition group of Arewa Youths Assembly, on the 6th of June 2017 asking Ndigbo living in the northern parts of Nigeria to leave the area with effective date of 1st October, 2017.
The Group said that they have also taken note of empty condemnations and unimplemented orders by the leaders and governments of the Arewa states of the North and of all the Federal government controlled security agencies for the arrest of the masterminds of the quit order, coupled with the widespread support from some highly respected socio-political leaders of Arewa-North.
They expressed disgust that the quit notice has been strategically followed up by the wide-spread release of hate and genocide inciting songs in Hausa language calling for the implementation of the quit notice and threat to the lives and properties of Ndigbo in the North.
ADF insist that the threat to Ndigbo in the states in the Northern Nigeria is real and demands that extreme emergency measures should not be lost on every sane Igbo man with a sense of history to know that there is fire on the mountain and that this is another pogrom-in-the-making.
The socio-cultural pressure group lamented that it is unfortunate that Ohanaeze Ndigbo and some Igbo political leaders appears to play ostrich with the threat, asking their kinsmen to remain in the north, when they are incapable of protecting the ethnic group in their ancestral homes, lets alone in the North.
They also stated that the world is aware of the alarm raised by several threatened groups in Nigeria, including the latest alarm raised by the Christian leaders in the North alleging that there are indeed obvious plans to Islamize Nigeria.
ADF further noted that the entire military and security services in Nigeria have been taken over by the Islamic north and in view of the composition of the leadership of the Nigeria Military Police. DSS, Civil Defense, Customs, Immigration and state Government owned Islamic Police (Hesbulah) and ill equipped vigilante forces, alleging that all these armed forces may connive for the alleged massacre of Ndigbo in the event of any attack or at best look the other way while the may hem goes on.
The group expressed gratitude to the sincere condemnation of the callous disposition of the coalition of Arewa youths and their sponsors by leaders from the Oduduwa nation, the Middle Belt Ethnic nationalities the South South Nationalities and some respected free minded leaders from the Hausa/Fulani northern region.
