By our reporter| Weeks after the abduction, murder, and beheading of Okechukwu Okoye, the lawmaker who represented Aguata north, in Anambra state house of assembly, the headless body of a former member, Hon. Nelson Emeka Achukwu, has been discovered.
According to a family member, the body was recovered two weeks after Achukwu was abducted from his residence in Ukpor, Nnewi South local government area, and a N15 million naira ransom paid to his abductors.
‘The corpse of Achukwu popularly known as “Ogbatuluenyi” was discovered by his relatives at the bank of Ulasi river, between Uke and Ukpor’, and the decapitated body was interred on Tuesday because it had started decomposing, a family source confirmed.
According to reports, the gunmen reportedly abducted and released him a few months ago.
Following his release, he confided in family members that the gunmen accused him of providing information to the military.
Anambra state police command spokesman, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, who confirmed the murder of Achukwu, said the command was doing everything within its power to arrest the perpetrators of the crime.
“The victim was abducted at about 10:15 Pm in his house on 9th of June and efforts were made to rescue him before this unfortunate development. His body was found between the boundary of Uke and Ukpor. We are still not relenting on our investigation as we will ensure that the culprits will face the full wrath of the law,” Ikenga said.
