Donatus Nwankpa, chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia state, was on Tuesday morning kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

The APC chairman was kidnapped with his driver on the Isialangwa section of the Enugu-Aba expressway.

His personal assistant, however, managed to escape from the abductors.

A member of the Abia chapter of the ruling APC who alerted Alabingo.com of the incident, said Nwankpa who had a huge sum of cash for members of the planning committee working on President Buhari’s visit to the state was heading to Aba from Umuahia when the incident happened.

President Muhammadu Buhari is being expected in the state for the flag off his campaign.
