The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the just-concluded presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, on Monday claimed that the continued detention of his lawyer and the Saturday arrest of his son-in-law by the EFCC, is the price they are paying for supporting his political cause.
Atiku’s lawyer, Giwa-Osagie was arrested two weeks ago, days before the presidential election by the anti-graft agency for alleged money laundering.
Last Saturday, the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested Babalele Abdullahi, his son-in-law who is also the finance director of his group of companies.
In a tweet vis his official twitter handle on Monday, Atiku said Babalele Abdullahi and Giwa-Osagie are being detained for identifying with him urged “those persecuting” the two to bear in mind that justice and peace is for all Nigerians.
Atiku tweeted, “my son in law and lawyer have been detained, one for 3 weeks and the other recently. They are paying the price for supporting me.
“I urge those now persecuting them to remember that a government’s mandate is to pursue peace and justice for all, and not just those who support them.”
