President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday signed into the law the Public Holiday (Amendment) Bill.
The Bill was passed by the National Assembly last month.
The new law accommodates June 12 as a public holiday in Nigeria, replacing May 29.
Senator Ita Enang, President Buhari’s National Assembly Liaison Officer, confirmed the news of the President’s signing of the bill.
Enang said on Monday, “Yes, Buhari has just signed the bill today.”
With this development, May 29 will only be marked as a handover/inauguration of new governments in Nigeria.
