Army authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the brutal killing of the Garrison Commander of 33 Artillery Brigade, Bauch, Colonel Mohammed S Barak.
The Commander was killed on Sunday by yet to be identified gunmen while travelling along Kaduna -Bauchi road.
The news of the death of the commander created panic within military circles.
However, the Army Public Relations Officer of the Command, Major Yahaya Nabir confirmed the incident.
He also said investigation is ongoing over the matter.
Residents of Bauchi are also shocked by the killing of the garrison commander along the Kaduna- Bauchi road which they described as a very safe road.
