Bandits have reportedly abducted a catechist, his pregnant wife, and about 30 other residents in Kagarko Local Government Area.
Rev. Fr. Linus Matthew Bobai, Parish Priest of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kadarko, Kaduna State, says the community is now gripped by fear, with over 98% of residents fleeing to a nearby village.
According to him, fewer than 40 people remained in the village overnight as tension continues to rise.
Human rights activist and lawyer Chidi Odinkalu first raised alarm about the abductions on Wednesday morning via his X handle [Formerly Twitter].
“Last night, terrorists abducted over 55 persons from Kutaho Gida & Kujir villages in Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State in NW #Nigeria. Many of the victims were infirm old persons. Children were also among the abductees. Do not allow anyone to deny this one too!!”, Odinkalu wrote.
The Kaduna state government and police authorities in the state are yet to respond to the development.
