Suspected bandits have killed a member of the Katsina Community Watch Corps in an attack along the Kankara axis of the state.
According to Zagazola Makama, sources said the incident occurred on March 7 at about 12:20 p.m. when a notorious bandit leader identified as Tsoho and his gang attacked the victim while he was on his way to duty.
The victim, identified as Sani Kulle, 35, of Gidan Barmu Village, was reportedly travelling from his community to his duty post at Mararrabar Kankara when he was ambushed by the gunmen riding on motorcycles.
The attackers shot the victim and fled with his rifle.
Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) mobilised a joint police team to the scene.
The body of the victim was evacuated to the General Hospital in Malumfashi where a medical doctor confirmed him dead.
Police also recovered the victim’s motorcycle from the scene.
Security sources said efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest the perpetrators of the attack.
