Bandits release 11 Kidnap victims of Kaduna train attack

By our reporter| Bandits who abducted 61 persons following the March 28 Abuja-Kaduna train attack on Saturday freed eleven of the victims.

Among those who regained their freedom are six females and five males who have now been flown to the nation’s capital, Abuja.

According to Malam Tukur Mamu, the Spokesman of the Kaduna based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, who has been involved in the negotiation with the bandits, the victims were released on Saturday afternoon at a forest.

The 11 victims, he said, were freed on health grounds in order to enable them undergo urgent medical treatment.

The freed victims are, Jessy John, Amina Ba’aba Mohammed (Gamba), Rashida Yusuf Busari, and Hannah Ajewole. Others include Najib Mohammed Daiharu, Gaius Gambo , Hassan Aliyu, Peace A. Boy and Danjuma Sa’idu.

The passengers were abducted on March 28 at Dutse forest in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State when the bandits attacked the Kaduna-bound train.

Eight people were killed and 26 others injured while many of the passengers went missing.
