By our reporter|The director of operations at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mohammed Umar, has been named acting chairman of the agency.
According to NAN, a top official of the commission confirmed that Umar has taken charge of the agency in the absence of Ibrahim Magu.
Magu was arrested on Monday and taken to the presidential villa in the nation’s capital to face a panel set up by President Muhammadu Buhari to probe the the now suspended EFCC boss following allegation of corruption and insurbodination levelled against him by the attorney general of the federation, Abubakar Malami.
The panel is led by Ayo Salami, retired president of the appeal court.
Umar’s appointment as the anti-grafts acting chairman, confirms the news of Magu’ suspension.
