Buhari asks Senate to confirm Yakubu’s nomination as INEC chairman for second term

By our reporter| President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday wrote to the Senate seeking approval for the confirmation of Professor Mahmoud Yakubu for a second term in office as the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The President’s letter was read at plenary at the resumption of legislative proceedings after a one month recess by Senate President Ahmad Lawan.

President Buhari in the letter solicited for the lawmakers’ expeditious consideration of his request for another five-year tenure for Mahmoud as INEC Chairman.
