Yusuf Bello| The Chinese embassy in Nigeria on Monday suspended the issuance of visas to Nigerians.
Zhou Pingjian, the Chinese ambassador to Nigeria, Zhou Pinjian said the move is part of efforts being carried out to contain the coronavirus outbreak in the Asian country.
Earlier on Monday, at a news briefing in Abuja, the Ambassador confirmed that no Nigerian citizen residing in Wuhan city has contracted the Coronavirus.
He also confirmed that 60 Nigerians are resident in the city where the outbreak was first recorded.
The ambassador added that the number of confirmed cases has risen to 17,205, whith 361 deaths and 475 people discharged from hospitals.
The World Health Organization declared the crisis a global health emergency last week as the virus spreads across the world.
So far, the virus has spread to 24 countries with the first foreign death from the virus reported in the Philippines on Sunday.
