Chukwu to float female football team in Imo

Everest Ezihe || As a strategic measure to contribute his own quota in uplifting female Football, Major General Alphonsius Chukwu (Rtd.) has advanced plans to float and sponsor female football team to be named Mbano Queens FC.
Chukwu who is the owner and founder of Mbano United football Club that involved in IMO State Football Association League disclosed this cheering news on Monday when the state leadership of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) paid him a courtesy call in his new-Owerri residence.
He commended IMO SWAN for their immense contributions in Sports development and advancement and enjoined them on the need for objective and investigative Journalism.
The football administrator recalled his early day’s participation in the game of football as he played for Imo Academicals in 1976 and actively played for Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA), Zaria as a student.
Chukwu further advocated the need for people to be submissive to Almighty God noting that man’s endeavour on earth is meaningless without God.
He also canvassed on the need for Nigerian populace to always pray for their leaders so that God will give them proper directive and vision.
Earlier, Mr. Ifeanyi Emesowum the State Chairman of SWAN said the essence of the visit is to show appreciation for what the Retired Major General is doing in Sports development in the state.
Emesowum appealed to the proprietor of Mbano United FC not to relent in his determined efforts to float female football team before the end of the year.
