Yusuf Bello| The House of Representatives on Tuesday rejected a call for the evacuation of Nigerians who are stranded in China following the outbreak of coronavirus in the country.
Benjamin Kalu, chairman, house committee on media and public affairs, had moved a motion, said Nigerians were stranded in the Asian country over the crisis and urged they be brought back home.
But the move was voted down by the lawmakers, despite several attempts by the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, to make the lawmakers listen to the content of the motion.
It will be recalled that that Nigerains resident in Wuhan, the Chinese city where the Coronavirus disease started appealed to the Nigerian government on Monday for evacuation.
