Court grants Adoke, former AGF permission to travel abroad for medical treatment

By our reporter| Nigeria’s former attorney general of the federation and minister of justice, Mohammed Adoke was on Friday granted leave by a federal high court in Abuja to travel for a medical check-up at the United Arab Emirate.

Adoke was exiled in the UAE for about five years.

Justice Inyang Ekwo in the ruling on Adoke’s application for permission to travel for medical attention, ordered the release of his passport to enable him to travel to UAE on health grounds from December 15 but must return to Nigeria on or before January 10, 2021.

Adoke is being prosecuted by Nigeria’s anti-graft agency on 14-count charges bordering on money laundering to the tune of $6million.

The former AGF who fled the country was arrested while on transit in the UAE and repatriated back to the country with the help of INTERPOL.

Hw was on arrival in Nigeria, arrested by the EFCC in December, 2019.
