CSOs give Buhari 14 day ultimatum to release Sowore, prosecute DSS operatives

Ebun Francis| A coalition of civil society organizations in Nigeria on Monday gave a 14- day ultimatum to the Federal Government demanding the release of Omoyele Sowore, convener of the #RevolutionNow movement.

The group also demanded the release of all illegally detained Nigerians by the DSS and other security agencies.

At a news conference to protest Friday’s invasion of the federal high court, Abuja by the DSS to arrest Sowore, the groups stressed that the Federal Government should ensure that officials of the DSS who invaded the court premises be prosecuted, else there would be a nationwide protest at every National Human Rights Commission Office across the country.

Executive Director of civil group, Enough is Enough, Yemi Ademolekun also at the news conference told journalists that the group’s demands include a call on President Muhammadu Buhari to hold a national broadcast and address citizens on the direction of his administration.

The civil rights movements that took part in Friday’s press conference include, Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), the Centre for Democracy and Development; Occupy Nigeria, Enough is Enough, Transition Monitoring Group, among others.
