DANGCEM and 11 others drag NSE-ASI lower despite gains in Banking and Insurance sectors

The Nigerian equity market on Tuesday sustained previous day negative sentiment, shedding 0.71%, as gains in the Banking and Insurance sectors failed to lift market sentiment. This was driven by sell-off on DANGCEM and 11 others. Nevertheless, the market breadth closed positive, recording 27 gainers against 12 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) shed by 162.12 absolute points, representing a dip of 0.71% to close at 22,543.07 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization size shed N84.49 billion, representing a dip of 0.71% to close at N11.75 trillion.

ACCESS, WAPCO & UCAP emerged as the top gainers while DANGCEM & NASCON emerged as top losers.

The downtrend was impacted by loses recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; DANGCEM (-10.00%), NASCON (-10.00%), CAP (-9.77%), CHAMPION (-9.09%), LASACO (-9.09%), and WAPIC (-8.00%).
