Tony Okoh, Uyo ||. As envisaged, the event climaxed with pump and panache as an Akwa Ibom Son, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang-eyen the state commissioner for works was decorated as the First Ever Grand Patron of NUJ South-South .
The NUJ National President Waheed Odusile while speaking at the event said that, “The role of the media is status conferral. This recognition on Ephraim Inyang-eyen makes him an ambassador. It’s a big responsibility. Having gone through his profile, I believe he deserves to be our patron.”
Odusile further emphasized, “One of the roles of the media in the society is to confer status on people in the society. This means you are now an ambassador of NUJ. This means people will be watching your actions. I am convinced that you really merit this award and will be ready to stand with us even in bad times.”
On his own Pastor Edward Ogude, theVice President NUJ Zone ‘F’ said, “People ask why the choice of Ephraim Inyang-eyen as the Grand Patron of NUJ South South Zone, and I answer he has carved a niche for himself in the field of politics. He is a special
guardian and supporter of journalists in Akwa Ibom State and beyond.”
Also speaking the Akwa Ibom state council of NUJ “Elder Patrick Albert said, “As pen pushers, we review a lot of leadership strides as they affect human society. We had a lot of nominations for the Grand Patron Award across the South South Zone but the lot fell on Engr. Ephraim Inyang -eyen
“You have to know that in the media we are very critical. We have good and critical leaders here in NUJ South South. Ephraim has not emerged because I am the Chairman of the Award Committee. He was nominated among many others about a year ago. Since then, his profile has been examined critically. His works and relationship with the media have been perused too.
Ephraim Inyang is a believer in diligence. He is saddled with a key sector in Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration. He has faithfully carried out his responsibilities. He treats his work as if it is a military warfare. There’s no day or two he doesn’t go to construction site. Just as his master Governor Udom Emmanuel, he is committed to quality service delivery. We saw this and said he should extend this attribute to the media to work as a father. The award is to encourage him and thank also His Excellency the Governor for having discovered him”.
Also speaking at the event, Mr. Moses Ekpo, Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State highlighted “Your decision to honour one of our own, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang-Eyen, Commissioner for Works as our Grand Patron for NUJ in the Zone (South South) is very well appreciated by us. You have made the right choice. He will surely add value to the NUJ in the Zone.”
And just yesterday Ephraim Inyangeyen turned 52 years on earth with encomiums from every strata of the society.
His Admirers have described him as a phenomenon that seems impossible and difficult, yet, so possibly good and familiar.” A truth that could never be doubted even as incredible as his elegant kindness appears|”.
His sojourn on earth was described as a demonstration of the potency of faith, and the power of loyalty.
Inyangeyen has proved his mettle in interpreting complex visions of the governor, and his experience has added much value in the infrastructural consolidation and industrialisation drive of the Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration.
As Commissioner for Works, Ephraim Inyangeyen has ensured that high quality delivery remains a distinction in all the projects delivered to Akwa Ibom people in the last two years plus.
