Drama as Maina collapses in court

Yusuf Bello| The former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina being prosecuted by the EFCC on 12-count charges of fraud, collapsed in court during trial on Thursday.

The former pension reform task force boss recently extradited from the Niger Republic after he jumped bail collapsed when his counsel, Anayo Adibe was addressing the court on his no-case submission before Justice Okon Abang.

Adibe was making his submissions for an adjournment to enable him to get records of court proceedings which will help him prepare for the no-case submission he intends to file on behalf of his client.

The court following the collapse of Maina, adjourned abruptly to enable the suspect get adequate medical attention from officials of the Correctional Service.

Maina’s ill-health has been a major reason why the trial has failed to get off the ground.
