EFCC arrests Obiano at Lagos airport, hours after handing over to Soludo

By our reporter| The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Thursday arrested the immediate past governor of Anambra State Willie Obiano.

Obiano, who handed over to Chukwuma Soludo, the new governor of Anambra state earlier on Thursday was arrested by the anti-graft agency at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Lagos.

He was reportedly on his way out of the country to Houston, Texas in the United States.

Wilson Uwujaren, spokesman of the anti-graft agency, confirmed the arrest of Obiano on Thursday night.

The former Anambra state governor was last November placed on EFCC’s
watchlist.

It is, however, not yet clear why the anti-graft agency placed the governor on a watchlist.
