EFCC detains Emefiele after his release by DSS

Our reporter/ Shortly after his release by the Department of State Services, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has detained the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.

Emefiele was picked up on Thursday night, less than an hour after he regained his freedom from the custody of the Department of State Services.

The former CBN governor, according to sources, is currently being interrogated at the National Headquarters of the EFCC in Jabi, Abuja.

He allegedly being probed over impropriety during his term as the head of the apex bank.

The DSS arrested Emefiele in June, shortly after he was suspended from office by President Bola Tinubu.

Emefiele, the Presidency said at the time, was suspended at the time due to “ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.”
