Ekiti election tribunal affirms Fayemi’s victory at the poll

The Ekiti state governorship petition tribunal sitting in Abuja on Monday declared Kayode Fayemi, governor of Ekiti as the winner of the last governorship election in the state last year.

In a judgment delivered by Suleiman Belgore, the chairman of the panel, the tribunal unanimously struck out the PDP candidates petition and declared that Fayemi of the ruling APC is the duly elected governor of Ekiti State.

Kolapo Olusola, the candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had filed a petition, alleging that the election was fraught with irregularities and that Fayemi should not have been declared the winner by INEC, the electoral umpire.
