The Federal Government on Wednesday pledged to install CCTV’s strategically along highways, monitor forests, and bushes with the use of aerodrones in an effort to tackle the security challenges across the country.
President Muhammadu Buhari disclosed this on Wednesday when the Ooni of Ife, Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II, and some elders from the south-west visited him at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The Ooni of Ife who briefed newsmen at the end of the meeting said the President gave an assurance that the entire security architecture of the country would be restructured.
He was also of the opinion that community policing will reduce the current security challenges facing the country.
The Ooni also explained that traditional rulers and not politicians in the south-west will be tasked with the responsibility of helping police authorities in the recruitment of officers from within their communities who understand the terrain in order to avert tension.
The Ooni said he is confident that these interventions will effectively address the challenge of insecurity, especially in the southwest.
On those calling for Fulani’s leave the southwest, the royal father explained that only the criminal elements amongst them that should leave.
