Ganduje sacks commissioner for mocking Abba Kyari

By our reporter| Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, on Saturday sacked Muazu Magaji, commissioner of works and infrastructure, over uncomplimentary comments he made over the death of Abba Kyari, President Buhari’s late chief of staff.

Kyari died on Friday in Lagos from coronavirus related complications and was buried in Abuja on Saturday.

A statement by Muhammad Garba, Kano commissioner for information, said Magaji was removed owing to his unguarded utterances.

The commissioner said, “Kano state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has relieved the appointment of the commissioner of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Mu’azu Magaji with immediate effect.”

“As a public servant, the commissioner ought to have respect the profanity of the office by refraining from any act capable of rendering the office to disrepute.

“The action of a public servant, personal or otherwise reflects back on the government and therefore, the Ganduje administration would not tolerate people in official capacities engaging in personal vendetta or otherwise.”

The former commissioner had in a series of posts on his Facebook page, made unpleasant remarks over Kyari’s demise.

“Win win … Nigeria is free and Abba Kyari dies in epidemic… The martyrdom of man is perfect!” one of his posts read.

In another post, he said: “I am not a hypocrite and I won’t pretend! While at personal level I pray Allah grant Abba Kyari Jannah…I sincerely believe Nigeria needed a better CoS period!”
