Gombe tops daily COVID-19 new cases as Nigeria’s burden surge past 16,000 with 403 new cases

Chidi Samuel| Nigeria on Sunday reported 403 new coronavirus infections bringing the county’s total burden of the highly contagious virus to 16, 085.

According to Nigeria Centre for Disease Contrl, Gombe State had the highest number of infections for the day with 73 new infections, relegating Lagos, the epicentre of the outbreak in Nigeria to second position with 68 cases.

The NCDC also stated that new infections were also recorded in Kano 46, Edo 36, FCT 35, Nasarawa 31, Kaduna 17, Oyo 16 and Abia 13.

Delta equally recorded 13 new infections, Bornu 13, Plateau 8, Niger 7, Rivers 7, Enugu 6, Ogun 6, Kebbi 3, Ondo, Anambra and Imo recorded 1 case each.

The Nigeria health agency further revealed that Nigeria’s current COVID-19 toll stands st 16, o85 cases with 420 deaths and 5,220 discharges.
