Gov. Emmanuel to Commission Etebi-Ewang road in December 2018

Tony Okoh || The Akwa Ibom state government said it was doing everything within the available resources to ensure that Etebi-Ewang road linking Mbo and Esit Eket local government areas is completed and delivered for use before the end of the year.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Works, Mr. Ephriam Inyang-eren while taking a team of journalists on inspection of project sites being executed by the state government over the weekend.

A section of the road project

He said Emmanuel’s government was poised to complete all road projects initiated by the last administration but was not completed before the exit date.

On the remodeling of Oron Township Road leading to the National Museum, the Works Commissioner intimated that the measure is to save houses built near the ravine from being submerged by the threatening gully erosion.

The ongoing road project

He explained that though the said road is under Federal Road, the state government has taken up the remodeling without recourse whether the federal government will do a refund or not.
He intimated that the aim is to connect drainages and channel it to the river.

He said government was in need of funds to pay compensation to residents living at the bank of the ravine for them to be relocated to other areas to allow full reclamation of the area.
On the durability of the roads constructed by the government, Inyang-eyen pointed out that all the road projects carried out by the current administration have technical designs which include two-side drains to ensure no water stays on the road after the rain has stopped.
