Governor Emmanuel enlarges Ibom deep sea port technical committee

Chidi Tony/ The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel has approved the enlargement of the Technical Committee on the Implementation of Ibom Deep Sea Port by the addition of four more persons, to accommodate the input of the host communities. The names are to be submitted by the Chairman Oro Steering Committee, Amb. Etim Uye.
According to a press statement  made available by the Commissioner for  Information & Strategy, Comrade INI Ememobong,  the  decision emanated from a meeting between the State Government and representatives of the Oro people of Akwa ibom held at Government House, Uyo.
Amb. Uye speaking on behalf of Oro people, as the Chairman of the Oro Steering Committee, disowned the vexatious audio  in circulation which disparage the personality of the governor and apologised to the Governor for he embarrassment that may have arisen it.
They communicated their preparedness to receive and support the deep sea port project and other projects attracted to their area by the Governor.
It could be recalled that Pro people have been at war with the Governor over alleged relocation of the ibom deep seaport from their territory to nearby ibeno, an allegations that people in government circle had since denied.
The Governor in a recent media chat had accused some leaders of Oro nation of working against the interest of the state by writing several petitions to the core investors which had discouraged the project from taking off.
The meeting was called to address all grey areas and get the project back on track.
In attendance at the meeting were AIG Asuquo Amba, Prince ChrisAbasi Eyo, Chief Otu Ita Toyo, Engr. Ita Awak, Ikpoto Okon Osung, Chief Effiong Afiakurue, Dr Etim Amba, Prof. Eka Uwe, Ita oboho ,John Ntekim, Ezekiel Ibok and Omen Bassey.
The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey,
Honourable Commissioner for Economic Development and Ibom Deep Sea Port, Mr. Akan Okon, Honourable Commissioner for Information & Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the representative of the Traditional Institution, HRM Edidem Raymond Inyang and the representative of Socio-cultural groups, Akparawa Patrick Udofia, were also in attendance.
