Group condoles with Akwa Ibom people on demise of senior citizens.

Chidi Tony| A socio-political group Akwa- Ibom Democratic Forum, (ADF) has expressed deep pain over the recent demise of prominent Akwa Ibom sons traced to the raging Covid19 pandemic.

The forum in a press statement endorsed by Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo Convener, Dr. Tony Usoro Secretary-General, Barr Chris Okorie Administration, and Dr. Patrick Umoh Special Representative and made available to Newsmen in Uyo condoles with the families of late Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga (rtd), late Obong Udo Ekpenyong, late Arc. Ime Ekpo and others who have fallen victims of COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the group, “We hereby appeal to the State Government to take proactive steps to curtail the spread while urging the citizens to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 protocols as approved by the NCDC and the State Government to forestall further spread and deaths.

In the same vein, the forum expressed sadness and shock on the death of former Chief of Air staff late Air- Vice Marshal Nsikak Eduok (rtd) and prayed God to give his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

According to the group,” We must as a people unite in prayers to God in His infinite mercies to kindly halt this rapid depletion of our people most of whom are our national assets”.

Meanwhile, the ADF in their press statement further appreciates the National Caretaker Committee of APC on the appointment of Hon. Nse Ntuen as member of the National Revalidation/Registration Committee and urge him to ensure that the exercise is conducted under a free and fair manner in the State.

They also enjoin all members of the party in the State and Akwa Ibom North-West (Ikot Ekpene) Senatorial District, in particular, to mobilize the people for effective membership revalidation and registration exercise commencing on Monday 25th January, 2021.

The group which pledges its implicit loyalty to APC and promised to continue to work to enhance the fortunes of the party in the State in particular and the Nation in general however frowns at the illegal substitution of Mr. Steve Ntokekpo, the State Youth Leader of the party and urged the CTC to take urgent and necessary steps to correct the anomaly.
