Gunmen abduct Edo head of service Okungbowa

Ebun Francis| The Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa, was on Saturday abducted by heavily armed gunmen along Oza Road, in Orhiomwon Local Government Area of the state.

The driver of Okungbowa who was said to be on his way to Benin, Edo State capital after attending a social event in Orhionmwon Local Government Area, was reportedly killed in the attack.

A government house official who confirmed the abduction of the Head of Service pleaded not to be identified.

He said, “He was kidnapped on his way back to Benin City after attending an event in Oza. His driver was killed. It is very sad.”

Governor Godwin Obaseki appointed Okungbowa head of service in May 2020.

Edo state police command has not yet confirmed the incident.
