By our reporter| A popular pastor, Apostle John Okoriko, the founder of Solid Rock Kingdom Church in Akwa Ibom State was on Tuesday night abducted by gunmen.
According to sources who witnessed the incident, Okoriko was abducted at about 5 pm on Tuesday at his church residence at Ibekwe Akpan Nya in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
The gunmen who gained access to the pastor’s residence after jumping through the fence, shot into the air, forced their way into his sitting room, and dragged the elderly clergyman outside of his house, before whisking him away into a nearby bush.
The Akwa Ibom state police command spokesman, Odiko Mcdon on Wednesday confirmed the abduction of Okoriko.
“We have received the report and the Commissioner of Police has ordered an investigation to commence,” Mcdon said.
“As I speak a lot has been done already; I want to believe that we will get to the root of it (the abduction) in no distant time.”
According to him, the police command has been working assiduously to unravel the crime and bring the perpetrators to book.
He, however, said the command was not aware of any ransom demand at the time of this report.
