Nigeria’s Vice-President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday said he has decided to waive his constitutional immunity to be investigated following malicious allegations levelled against recently.
Osinbajo, a senior pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church made the disclosure in a series of tweets in his official twitter handle @ProfOsibanjo.
He twitted, “In the past few days, a spate of reckless and malicious falsehoods have been peddled in the media against me by a group of malicious individuals.”
“The defamatory and misleading assertions invented by this clique have been making the social media rounds anonymously.
“I have today instructed the commencement of legal action against two individuals, one Timi Frank and another Katch Ononuju, who have put their names to these odious falsehoods.
“I will waive my constitutional immunity to enable the most robust adjudication of these claims of libel and malicious falsehood.”
The Vice President has been at the receiving end of orchestrated attack attack in recent times with Timi Frank, a former deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), over the weekend alleging that the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) released N90 billion to the vice president for election campaign of the ruling APC in the last general election.
The FIRS has since denied the allegation.
