By our reporter/ Nigeria’s minister for works and housing, Babatunde Fashola on Sunday said he does not know what happened to the video camera he recovered at the Lekki tollgate after the #EndSARS protests.
Fashola, in October 2020 while visiting the scene with fellow ministers and south-west governors days after the forceful dispersal of the protesters, discovered a hidden camcorder at the scene.
The discovery was highly reported in the social social media with many suggesting the device was planted by government agents.
But speaking during Arise TV programme on Sunday, the former Lagos state governor said he doesn’t know what became of the camcorder.
According to him, the device was handed over to the Lagos state government, adding that he should not be the one to answer questions on the camcorder.
“You should not be asking me. You have the tapes showing that I handed it over to the government of Lagos, so you have all the recordings,” he said.
“I think your people were there. So don’t ask me what happened to the camera. I don’t know.”
