IGP Mohammed order probe of Senator who assaulted a nursing mother

Nigeria’s inspector general of police, Mohammed Adamu, on Wednesday ordered a “comprehensive investigation” of the incident involving Elisha Abbo, senator representing Adamawa north district, and a nursing mother at an adult sex shop in Abuja.

A close circuit television (CCTV) footage which went viral on Tuesday showed the Senator of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) repeatedly hitting a nursing mother following an argument at the shop.

Following the release of the video, many Nigerians has expressed outrage and called on relevent government agencies to immediately arrest and prosecute the Senator.

Frank Mba, police spokesman, who confirmed the IGP’s directive to newsmen, promised to provide more details as soon as possible.

Mohammed Adamu, inspector general of police, has ordered that a “comprehensive investigation” be carried out on the incident involving Elisha Abbo, senator representing Adamawa north district, and a nursing mother, Mba said on Wednesday morning.
