The name of the governorship candidate for the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), was conspicuously missing from the list the Independent National Electoral Commission released on Friday.
INEC published 67 governorship candidates and their respective running mates alongside their credentials and personal information at its office in Owerri, the state capital.
Some of the names published by INEC includes, a former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ifeanyi Araraume of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Ike Ibe of the Independent Party and a former Senator, Micheal Ikoku of the Young Democratic Party, and Linus Okorie, amongst others.
Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha is engaged in a bitter fight with the national leadership of the party following their decision to accept Hope Uzodinma as the party’s governorship candidate for 2019 election over his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu
Earlier in the week, an Owerri high court gave an order restraining INEC from publishing the name of the APC governorship candidate.
