Chidi Samuel || Charles Okah the younger brother of imprisoned MEND leader, Henry Okah and Obi Nwabueze were on Wednesday sentenced to life imprisonment by a federal high court in Abuja over their involvement in the bomb blasts in Warri, Delta state, on March 15, 2010, and Abuja on October 1 of the same year.
The duo were said to have planned the attacks with Henry, the elder brother of Charles, who is serving his own jail term in South Africa.
Delivering judgment in the case that has dragged for several years, Justice Gabriel Kolawole, held that the prosecution proved the charges preferred against the two beyond reasonable doubt.
He subsequently found the defendants guilty as charged.
Justice Kolawole held that Obi Nwabueze made himself available to run illegal errands for Henry who gave him N1.2m to purchase five fairly used cars for the Warri blast while another N2m was given to him to purchase the four cars deployed for the Independence Day blast in Abuja.
The court had in July 27, 2017, sentenced a third defendant, Edmund Ebiware, to life imprisonment for his role in the Abuja bomb blast.
Charles and Nwabueze, alongside Ebiware and Tiemkemfa Francis-Osvwo (aka General Gbokos), were first arraigned before the court on December 7, 2010, in connection with the bomb blasts.
But Francis-Osvwo later died in detention.
About twelve people were killed in the bombing at Eagle Square in 2010.
