The attack on Rev. Paschal is the latest in a series of targeted assaults against religious leaders in northern and central Nigeria.
Kagarko and surrounding areas in southern Kaduna have faced a surge in attacks over the past years, leaving villagers displaced and livelihoods destroyed. Farmers, priests, and ordinary citizens live in constant fear, with reports of kidnappings, killings, and property destruction becoming alarmingly common.
The murder of Rev. Paschal underscores the vulnerability of religious leaders and the communities they serve, raising urgent questions about government capacity to protect lives and prevent further bloodshed.
The killing occurs against the backdrop of ongoing debate over claims of Christian genocide in Nigeria. The U.S. government has repeatedly highlighted targeted attacks on Christian populations, prompting calls for stronger protective measures.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Federal Government insists that the violence, perpetrated by terrorists and bandits, is not faith-based and affects both Christians and Muslims.
