ISWAP fighters attack Nigerian military base in Pulka, sets facility ablaze

Heavily armed members of the Islamic State West Africa Province [ISWAP] early on Sunday morning attacked the Nigerian military camp in Pulka, Borno State.

The attack reportedly lasted for about one and half hour during which heavy gunfire was heard across the town.

Residents said gunfight was unrelenting with NASA satellite confirming multiple fires at the site near Cameron’s border.

According to eyewitness account, the insurgents overwhelmed sections of the military camp, and videos showed burning vehicles amid the chaos. Several soldiers were feared killed, though the number remain unconfirmed with no official word yet from the Nigerian army.

The assault highlights ISWAP’s recent escalation in Borno State’s remote areas amid Nigeria’s long-running insurgency.
