UPDATED: FG, Organised labour meeting ends in deaddlock

The meeting between organised labour, the private sector, and the federal government has once again ended in a deadlock as the parties involved failed to reach agreement on a new minimum wage for workers.

Ms. Ama Pepple, Chairman of the Committee and former Head of Service of the Federation,  made the disclosure to Journalists on Monday in Abuja.

According to her, the meeting of the committee which lasted for more than nine hours with representatives of the Federal Government and leaders of the organised labour failed to reach an agreement.

The committee, she said will have to submit both the N30,000 minimum wage demanded by the organised labour and the N24,000 proposed by the government to President Muhammadu Buhari for onward submission to the National Assembly.

The leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have yet to take a decision whether or not the strike planned for Tuesday, November 6 will hold.

The government is hoping that the labour will not proceed with the planned industrial action.
