Kogi West Re-run: Adeyemi leads Melaye with over 14,000 votes in five out of 7 LGAs

Yusuf Bello| With results of five out of the seven local government areas that make up Kogi West senatorial district in the re-run election ordered by the court of appeal, Smart Adeyemi, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is ahead of Dino Melaye of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the results so far declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Sunday.

APC’s Adeyemi is ahead with 14,533 votes after winning in five local government areas of Kabba Bunnu, Mopamuro, Ijumu and Kogi Koton Karfe.
The PDP candidate, Melaye won in Yagba East.

Kaba Bunnu- APC 15,037, PDP – 8,974.

Mopamuro, APC – 4,874, PDP – 3,704.

Kogi Koton Karfe, APC- 14,168 , PDP 9,786 votes.

In Ijumu, APC 11,627, PDP, 7,647 votes.

Yagba East, PDP – 7,745, APC, 6,683.

Adeyemi of the APC is leading with 52,389 votes against Melaye’s 37,856.

The result of the remaining two local government areas is being awaited.
