Lagos confirms two more COVID-19 deaths

By our reporter|The Lagos State government on Tuesday confirmed two more coronavirus deaths at its isolation centers in the state.

The state commissioner for health, Professor Akin Abayomi, made the disclosure in a Tweet announced while giving an update on the pandemic.

Abayomi, who said the fatalities involved were a male and a female, noted that Lagos, the epicentre of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country, recorded no new case on Monday.

According to Abayomi, one of the new deaths was a 45-year-old Nigerian man who returned from India in January while the second involved a 36-year-old Nigerian woman who had a severe underlying health condition.

He stated that the patient had no history of travel or contact with any confirmed case of coronavirus.

The commissioner urged the residents of the state to remain vigilant and report any concern about COVID-19 infection in their various communities to the relevant authorities.

Lagos so far, has confirmed a total of 379 infections with 260 active cases, 98 people have fully recovered and had been discharged, with 16 deaths recorded.
