–Nigeria confirms five new Covid-19 cases
By our reporter| Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Saturday said the lockdown in the state ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari to curb the spread of Covid-19 will be extended if the need arises.
The governor who spoke at a press briefing in Lagos, said said the situation of things would determine if the lockdown would be extended.
According to him, if there is need for extending it, he would liaise with the federal govermment.
Sanwo-Olu said, “This is just day five. So, in the first 14 days, we still have about eight or nine days to go.”
“So, I’m sure that it’s something that all of us, including the federal authorities will be reviewing. The lockdown was not only a directive of the governor; it was a national decision and it has national backing. So, if there is a need to extend, I can assure you that we will make the call.”
Also, a coronavirus patient receiving treatment at the Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba, Lagos, has been discharged, the governor further revealed at the briefing.
Although, the governor did not give details of the patient, he expressed optimism that more patients would be discharged soon.
So far, 98 persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in the state and 24 have been discharged with one death.
Meanwhile, Nigeria on Saturday confirmed five new cases of Covid-19.
In a Tweet on its official twitter handle, the Nigeria centre for disease control (NCDC), said the five new cases, 3 in Bauch and 2 in FCT, bring to 214 the number of confirmed cases in the country.
The Tweet read, ”Five new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria: 3 in Bauchi and 2 in the FCT.
As at 10:10 pm 4th April, there are 214 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Twenty-five have been discharged with two deaths”.
The health agency further revealed that as at 10:10 pm 4th April, there are-
